Mass start at 12:30 for 60 minute score event.

Food / Drinks / Prizegiving 1:45pm onwards.

We’re excited to confirm the date for this year’s PFO Club Championships, with a mix of terrain around Brun Valley and urban in our Burnley East area, so something to suit all. There will be prizegiving and a chance to grab some food and drink from 1:30pm afterwards in the pub, they will be serving their full menu.

Format: Handicapped 60-minute score course, get as many controls as you can in the time-limit.

· 10 points per control

· -1 point per 10 seconds late

The clever scoring formula means that anybody can win, with adjustments made to reflect experience and age categories.

Map Scale: 1:4000 A3 2 sided map

Terrain: Mix of urban and terrain at Rowley Lake, light trail shoes recommended for best overall grip.

Dogs on leads allowed.

Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Please sign up by no later than Wednesday 11th November as map printing is being outsourced.

Registration and start times

12:30 mass start time. There will be a short walk from the venue to the actual start location so ensure you arrive with plenty of time to get to the start.

Parking in the public car-park behind the Thornton Arms PH. (accessed through the pub car-park).

Entry details

The event is FREE to all current PFO members including dibber hire if needed. Non PFO members, friends and family are welcome to attend, the cost will be £4pp plus £1 dibber hire if needed.

To enter please fill in the spreadsheet sent via email to the address registered and that has been shared on the PFO WhatsApp channel. If you are not on either, or not a club member, please email kay.hawke@yahoo.co.uk with the following details.

Pre-existing medical conditions: What you should do.

Insurance: From 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering's public liability insurance. By entering any event from 1st January 2026, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. British Orienteering's public liability insurance used to cover non-members at events before this date.
